Custom Molded Orthotics

Foot pain is life-limiting. If the pain is not due to a specific injury, the problem could possibly be the mechanics of how you walk and if your feet are handling the pressure.

An orthotic could possibly correct the problems with your gait and provide the pain relief you need. A custom-molded orthotic may correct walking issues or relieve pain from some lower-extremity injuries. The orthotics are worn inside your shoes for better stability and comfort.

Alpine Podiatry Center offers custom-molded orthotics. Your feet are unique. Your gait and medical issues are different from everyone else. Molding the inserts to your feet provides customized comfort and correction designed specifically for your needs when over-the-counter inserts aren't addressing your problems adequately.

Inserts are recommended for many different reasons, such as:

  • Plantar fasciitis

  • Fallen arches

  • Patients with diabetes

  • High-performance athletes

People with diabetes are at risk for poor circulation, foot ulcers, and infection. Custom inserts protect vulnerable areas of the foot by preventing rubbing, blisters, ulcers, or bruises.

The needed orthotic for an athlete depends on the sport in which he/she is participating. Different types of races require different inserts to protect the feet.

Functional orthotics control abnormal motions by positioning the feet to promote proper biomechanics. These orthotics are typically made with plastic or graphite (semi-rigid materials) and are used to treat foot pain, tendinitis, and shin splints, as well as biomechanical dysfunction.

Accommodative orthotics provide support and cushioning of the feet. Diabetics with painful calluses or ulcers on the bottom of their feet often require custom-fitted orthotics to promote healing and avoid further damage.
